These are general introductory classes for anyone interested
in this style of yoga. No need to book for these classes.
No experience necessary.

intro 1 course $160/140
5 weeks attending two classes per week.
A steady and thorough introduction to the core aspects of
Ashtanga Yoga. Through the practise of a range of postures
from the Primary Series build stamina and flexibility.
Suitable for anyone, including absolute beginners.
No yoga experience necessary.

intro 2 course $160/140
5 weeks attending two classes per week

Aiming to consolidate knowledge of the sequence of postures
learned in Intro 1, adding in a range of floor postures and
working on the finishing series (backbends and inversions).
Also appropriate for anyone who has had a break from
practice. Knowledge of suryanamaskar A & B (sun salutations)
and the sequence of standing postures is recommended to
attend Intro 2 classes.

intro 3 course - intro to mysore $160/140
5 weeks attending two classes per week

A course for students who have completed intro level 2 or are
habitual led class attendees. This is an opportunity to experience
the practice as it was intended - independently paced with the
benefit of intuitive instruction, support and hands on assistance.
In this course you will be committing to becoming established in
a sustainable practice routine from which to build an ever
expanding yoga repertoire. All the foundations have been put
in place. This is an opportunity to really take hold of your own
practice for increased health and well being.

notes and advice for new students

  • for bookings please print out a registration form and bring it in
    with your payment.
  • Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic practice; dress in light comfortable
    clothes and expect to get hot.
  • It is best not to drink during practice, so stay hydrated all day
  • Come to class with an empty stomach.
  • Please tell the teacher about any injuries or if you are pregnant.
  • Bookings are necessary for courses
  • Mats are available for use, and to purchase, at the studio.
  • If you have your own mat please bring it along especially if you
    are inclined to sweat heavily.
  • We do not have eftpos facilities. Cash/cheque payments only (please
    make cheques payable to Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne).
